3) Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes

GCN was home to another stellar remake, namely Konami’s Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes. Building from the PlayStation original, 2004’s Twin Snakes was a combination of Metal Gear Solid‘s plot and Metal Gear Solid 2‘s graphics. In recent years, the Metal Gear games have been remastered and re-released in HD a couple of times, but sadly this GCN installment remains firmly locked in the past. Featuring incredible graphics, reworked cinema scenes, and improved audio, Twin Snakes makes a strong case for the HD treatment. Ninja versus Snake in blistering detail can literally makes a person’s head spin in giddy anticipation. GamePad functionality combined with Snake’s voluminous arsenal of weapons and gadgets seems like a match made in heaven. Codec calls and Soliton on the GamePad alone are worth the effort, but giving fans a refresher on the series before Metal Gear Solid V seems like a no-brainer. Series mastermind Hideo Kojima has been shopping around the idea of remaking Metal Gear Solid a second time, but he should save himself some trouble by unearthing this under appreciated gem.
Fantastic list. You’re missing the original Super Monkey Ball, though. Also, from a personal standpoint, I’d say NHL Hitz 2003, but I don’t think that’ll ever happen. :)
Haha, hey, if Tony Hawk can do it, I say NHL Hitz 2003 deserves a shot! I totally forgot Monkey Ball; I’ll sacrifice Viewtiful Joe for it.
Great article. A good controlling Twilight Princess would be awesome. Eternal Darkness however needs a full revamp, and a simple upgrade to HD would be a waste of a time. Wind Waker was made with timeless graphics; ED is a bit dated.
Gc was a great console, i have almost all this games and i think they all could look amazing on hd, but you missed the most impressive looking gc game of all time. Rogue Leader Rogue Squadron II.
Good picks overall. Needs more Skies of Arcadia: Legends though. ;)
