1: The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
Many thousands of words adorn pages across this vast Internet of ours heaping praise upon Wind Waker, and it’s hard to disagree– it’s undeniably a fantastic game. It has a well-built, open world, complete with interesting characters, heartwarming moments and tons of stuff to do. But having said that, it’s unlikely you’ll be removing your hair over this any time soon.
The thing is, it’s such an utter joy to play that looking past it becomes the easiest thing in the world– at least once you’re atop a rocky outcrop firing a cannon at floating targets, flying a distance competition with a giant leaf, transporting yourself around the world via the safe and feasible method of magic tornado, or spying on secret lovers to have your camera upgraded. What difficulty? Link’s too busy hauling up treasure.

The one glaring omission for me is Kirby’s Epic Yarn. Ridiculously easy to play, impossible to die, and so charming I didn’t need difficulty to keep my attention.
I remember back when Luigi’s Mansion came out, EGM thought its dual-stick control scheme wasn’t intuitive because it was odd moving with one stick and aiming the vacuum with the other. Years later CoD is the biggest franchise in the world and LM 2 would have controlled even better with a second stick. Smh…
