The first game in this recently-revived series, The Great Giana Sisters, was withdrawn from sale thanks to its unashamed similarities to Super Mario Bros. Still, this didn’t stop determined fans from crowdfunding a new game, this time entitled Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams. Gone are the similarities to Nintendo’s mascots, as the game takes on world-altering mechanics, character shifting and a wonderfully ethereal electronic soundtrack. The game is available from September 5th on the NTSC Wii U eShop.
Dungeons and Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara rolls out on the same day, combining two Capcom arcade classics into one $14.99 package. Including both Tower of Doom and Shadows over Mystara, this Dungeons and Dragons compilation should keep fans entertained for some time. Spot the Differences: Party is being ported over for $5, this time in high definition. This graphical enhancement will certainly improve the gameplay, as playing on the Wii had serious resolution issues.
Over on 3DS, there’s the downloadable version of Sonic Generations, as well as Summer Carnival ’92 RECCA, an obscure and very tough shoot-em-up developed for a Japan-only competition 21 years ago and designed to push the NES to its limits. There’s also Boulderdash-XL 3D and Darts Up 3D for the 3DS eShop, and Breath of Fire II for Wii U Virtual Console.
