Developers WayForward have previously hinted at a new Kickstarter-funded title, but now it’s clear what it will be– Shantae: Half-Genie Hero, which takes place after the upcoming Shantae and the Pirates’ Curse, will feature an HD art style and be released on all current and next-generation platforms, including the one that’s relevant to us: the Wii U.
For those who back the project, stretch goals include collector’s edition packs featuring digital downloads of the game, posters, t-shirts, and art books. For those generous and wealthy enough to afford the highest donation of $10,000, not only will you be able to hang out with the developers at the game’s wrap party, you’ll also receive a factory-sealed copy of Shantae for the Game Boy Color, an insanely rare item sure to be worth a lot in both financial and sentimental value.

Well, someone actually pledged the $10,000 level.
I’m really looking forward to this. Any of you pledged or planning to pledge yet?
Yeah, I supported the project too. Not at the $10,000 level though.
I’ve never played a Shantae game before but hear good things. WayForward games always seem to be beautiful but with a few minor shortcomings in design… hopefully this one breaks the streak and offers gameplay that is just as exceptional as the art design. Either way, the price is reasonable and my Wii U could use some eShop love.
One disappointment: From what I’m hearing, this game isn’t going to be released for a *long* time. Whatever happened to immediate gratification?! ;)
