2: Super Mario Galaxy
Super Mario Galaxy has a cast-iron place in history as one of the Wii’s greatest games, featuring creative levels, great visual style and innovative control schemes which make playing at once familiar and new. But it’s hardly taxing. With the exception of one or two of the most fiendish stars (looking at you, Luigi Purple Coin Challenge) it’s a cakewalk to plough through to 100% completion in a week with a decent effort. Still, it’s well worth playing and the low difficulty at least ensures an opportunity to see everything!
The one glaring omission for me is Kirby’s Epic Yarn. Ridiculously easy to play, impossible to die, and so charming I didn’t need difficulty to keep my attention.
I remember back when Luigi’s Mansion came out, EGM thought its dual-stick control scheme wasn’t intuitive because it was odd moving with one stick and aiming the vacuum with the other. Years later CoD is the biggest franchise in the world and LM 2 would have controlled even better with a second stick. Smh…
