While Pokémon fans outside of Japan may not be able to buy the beautiful gold colored 3DS XL that was released in honor of Pokémon X and Y, players will still have the chance to pick up one of two special Pokémon-themed systems later this month.
During the Pokémon Direct broadcast this morning, Nintendo announced that it will be releasing special red and blue 3DS XL consoles in North America on September 27. Both consoles will be based on the blue limited edition 3DS XL that was released in Japan alongside the aforementioned gold one, featuring the same etching of X and Y‘s two legendary Pokémon, Xerneas and Yveltal, superimposed over their respective letters.
It appears that neither console will be bundled with one of the upcoming Pokémon titles, so they will presumably retail for the same price as a standard 3DS XL, but Nintendo has yet to confirm this.
Will you be picking up either console when they go on sale later this month? Let us know in the comments!
