After what seems like a longer-than-usual wait between broadcasts, Nintendo has announced that it will be airing a new Nintendo Direct tomorrow, February 13.

According to the company, the broadcast is scheduled to begin at 5 PM Eastern Time and will cover Wii U and 3DS games “launching by the end of spring.” Europe will likewise be receiving its own broadcast, which will air at 10 PM UK.

Those interested in watching the North American Direct can do so at Nintendo’s website. We’ll also be reporting any major announcements from the broadcast, so be sure to check back for the latest news and game reveals.

    Alright, here we go:

-Dixie Kong announced for Smash. Either solo or as a team with Diddy
-Release dates for Mario Kart 8, and hopefully a few Wii U titles.
-Localization updates for 3DS Japanese games
-Some info on X. It’s time for a name, some more footage…something. Bonus guess: game is named Xenomorph.
-A clear release schedule for eshop games. Hopefully mentioning the DS library.

Really hoping most of that pans out, especially the eshop stuff. It also goes without saying that Tropical Freeze and probably Bravely Default will also both be covered. Same with Kirby and Yoshi.

    What I wish for:
    – X is available on the eShop following this presentation. ;^)
    – Metal Gear Solid 5 on Wii U
    – Mario Kart 8 multiplayer demo on eShop soon
    – First glimpse of new Wii U Zelda and Majora’s Mask 3D
    – 200 NES, SNES, N64, DS games on Wii U VC, more added every day
    – Rotating discounts and timed trials of VC games/bundles
    – One killer new announcement each for Wii U and 3DS

    What I actually expect:
    – More Wii Sports Club stuff
    – Wii U quick-boot-to-game
    – Brain Age on Wii U VC, other DS titles pondered for pathetic trickle
    – Smash Bros character reveal and delay
    – Something confusing about Bayonetta 2

    I guess I’m in a half-empty kind of mood today. :^)

Apparently Monolith Soft has retweeted Direct announcements twice before, and both times X was featured. Learning that got me excited, because they retweeted this time too.

Nothing specific that I’m hoping for… but any X content showcased would make my day.

I’ve been so wrong with my past Nintendo Direct predictions that I won’t even try. However, the bottom half of Penduin’s post seems about right (my glass is half empty as well.)

That being said, I am excited for whatever will be available in the eShop “directly following the broadcast.” I loved it when Nintendo surprised us with Earthbound. Then last time when they introduced NES Remix right out of left field.

On the other hand, I will try not to get my hopes up (like a lot of Nintendo faithful I suppose) because it might be SMB3. While a fantastic game (understatement?), the fact that it’s currently more available then Earthbound was at the time, and not something totally new like NES Remix, makes the possibility of SMB3 seem less exciting.

Besides X, my pipe dream for tomorrow would be SNES Remix, NES Remix 2, or a NES remix with third party titles included and (re)mixed. Would love to see Mega Man shooting Mother Brain or Rygar (hey, it’s my pipe dream, right?) making his way through Zelda 2’s Hyrule.

I’m expecting a strategic partnership with a large game company (Sega?) for a pile of exclusives for both the Wii U and 3DS. Other than that, an update on Mario Kart, and Smash Bros., with no news on Metroid or Zelda.

    Well no Metroid or Zelda.

Ok then! Looks like a good start to another strong year for 3DS, especially if you like 2D platformers, indie games, or strange Japanese things. I was really hoping to see some big Wii U surprises, but the little ones are fun too.

Little Mac in Smash, Koopalings in Kart, cool. NES Remix 2, awesome. X still untitled but looking every bit as awesome as expected. (And nothing at all confusing about Bayonetta 2, just that it’s still coming and looking insane. :^)

OG75: No Rygar in NES Remix 2, but Zelda 2 Link fighting a hammer brother was just about as welcome! :^) Although, damn, now I want to dig up and replay Rygar.

Virtual Console news was even more pathetic than my pessimistic guess. Oh well.

And a number of weird free-to-play experiments. I must admit, haggling down prices for DLC? …I did not see that coming. I almost sorta wish I cared about baseball-themed minigames.

The NES Remix 2 with Luigi Bros is a definite sale for me.
