There was certainly no shortage of announcements in the first Nintendo Direct broadcast of 2014. From Little Mac’s well-deserved appearance in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. games to surprise eShop releases like the free-to-play Steel Diver: Sub Wars, it’s clear that Nintendo fans have a lot to look forward to in the first part of the new year (though, as per usual, 3DS owners will be receiving the bulk of the spoils).
The staff will be weighing in with their own thoughts on the Nintendo Direct in a special round table tomorrow, but in the meantime, here are links to the biggest announcements from the broadcast, all in one handy place:
- Little Mac Joins Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS

What did you think of yesterday’s Nintendo Direct? Were you excited by all of the new game announcements, or were you disappointed by the relative lack of Wii U news? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below!
it was an ok direct, nothing new and exiting to announce, but great trailers for smash and mario kart, also the first gameplay of x, but it wasnt that great.
I was kinda disappointed with this Direct :/ perhaps I’m expecting too much too soon since it’s only February, but I was really hoping for that exciting Wii U title reveal that would leave everyone talking after the ND was finished. However, I was happy with the Little Mac announcement and the addition of the Koopalings to Mario Kart 8.
But then I was left scratching my head with Nintendo’s decision to release GBA games on Wii U’s Virtual Console – why not the 3DS?
