Charizard and Greninja weren’t the only fighters announced during today’s Smash Bros. Direct broadcast; series director Masahiro Sakurai also confirmed that Mario’s dino companion Yoshi will be returning to the fray in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. games for Wii U and 3DS!
This time around, the green dino will be sporting a different look than in previous Smash Bros. games. Rather than hunching over like an actual dinosaur, Yoshi now stands upright. Sakurai says that this change is the reason he and Nintendo have waited so long to announce him for the new titles, though he assures fans that the changes have made Yoshi even stronger than before.
In addition to that, Sakurai also confirmed that Sheik and Zero Suit Samus will be returning in the new Super Smash Bros. games. Unlike in previous installments of the series, however, which featured both characters as transformations for Zelda and Samus, respectively, the two will be appearing as individual fighters in the Wii U and 3DS games, allowing players to concentrate on mastering a single move set for each of them.
Are you excited to see Yoshi return in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS? What do you think about Sheik and Zero Suit Samus being made into individual characters? Let us know in the comments!

If Yoshi DIDN’T come back it would have been more surprising. Cool redesign for Zero Suit Samus.
Yoshi was the one veteran reveal I really wanted out of the way. I think it was worth showing off his redesign in the Direct though, because he looks great!
