Like the setting and rising of the sun, a new 3D Mario is in development at Nintendo’s Tokyo EAD. While not necessarily surprising at a glance, this is interesting news for a couple of reasons.
First of all, considering Super Mario 3D World launched just this past November, it’s good to know that Nintendo is wasting no time getting to work on a followup. That being said, it’s also worth noting that Nintendo producer Yoshiaki Koizumi wouldn’t say which of the company’s consoles would be playing host to the new title. Super Mario 3D Land came out on 3DS back in 2011, so it might be more likely that the handheld is due for a fresh 3D Mario game. We’ll be sure to keep everyone posted as more information comes out (which will probably be sometime around E3).
Happy to hear another 3D Mario is coming our way? Are you hoping it’s Galaxy 3? Which system would you prefer the new game on? Let us know in the comments!

I finally played 100% through both of the Mario Galaxy Games in the past year. Add to that my slow progress through 3D World, and I’m a little Mario’d out right now.
Still, I’m sure this title is a ways off, so I’ll have plenty of time to get back into whatever 3d adventure Mario takes on next.
