Nintendo fans are always on the hunt for any news on their favorite company, even if it’s just a mysterious new trademark. Last week, Nintendo of America applied for a trademark on something called “Code Name S.T.E.A.M.” (Strike Team Eliminating the Alien Menace). No other information about this trademark is available at this time, so really, it could be anything. Companies file trademarks for a variety of reasons, and sometimes do so without any immediate plans for the trademark, so this doesn’t necessarily mean that we should be expecting some big announcement any time soon.

Whatever Code Name S.T.E.A.M. is, it at least has a very interesting name. It could be a new IP, but then again, what if it’s a sequel or spin-off of an existing one? Nintendo has plenty of alien-related series in its library. What do you think S.T.E.A.M. is? Let us know in the comments below!
