After several notable delays, indie developer Yacht Club Games has announced that its anticipated debut title, Shovel Knight, will finally be launching in the 3DS and Wii U eShops (as well as on Steam) on June 26.

Shovel Knight is a retro-styled platformer in the vein of Mega Man and Zelda II. The game follows the eponymous Shovel Knight as he travels through precarious side-scrolling stages and battles the Order of No Quarter, eight imposing warriors who stand between Shovel Knight and his kidnapped beloved. The title was initially scheduled to launch on March 31, but was pushed back to April and, finally, to June in order to fine tune game balance, level and boss design, and other elements.
