When it comes to teases, no one does it like Masahiro Sakurai. The director of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS has revealed another new tidbit: a newly debuting item! The Boomerang appears to work in a similar capacity to the actual Australian weapon, with a video game twist, of course!
Pic of the day. Here’s a new item that we’ve thrown in–the boomerang. As you’d guess, it’ll fly back into your hands after you throw it, and if you keep catching it, its attack power grows with each throw! However, opponents can nab the boomerang out of the air, so it might be an easier item to use in Smash Run.
It’s hard to tell from the accompanying screenshot whether or not the boomerang is inspired by its appearance in the Legend of Zelda or another title. Of course, it could simply be based on the real-life weapon itself. Either way, it seems like it will be a natural addition to the already deep arsenal of the Super Smash Bros. titles.
