Just last week, Japanese publisher Marvelous AQL announced a new 3DS RPG entitled Forbidden Magna. While the game doesn’t yet have a firm release date, it seems that Xseed Games might already have some interest in localizing it. The publisher, a subsidiary of Marvelous AQL, has also localized the popular Rune Factory series. After the announcement, fans took to Xseed’s Facebook page to see what the publisher thought of the upcoming title.
“Yep, completely agree that Forbidden Magna is looking great. We’ll be keeping our eyes on it,” said one Xseed representative. While hardly a strong confirmation, it’s certainly the most promising news fans of the Rune Factory series have had in quite some time. The developer of the franchise, Neverland, closed its doors late last year, which led to a cancellation of Rune Factory 4‘s European release.
Luckily, a publisher isn’t the only thing that Forbidden Magna shares with Rune Factory. Rune Factory producer Yoshifumi Hashimoto and series developer Masahide Miyata will both act in a similar capacity on Forbidden Magna. The new title appears to be a strategy RPG with elements similar to the Harvest Moon series.
