WayForward has revealed some new info regarding level design in its latest installment to the Shantae series, Shantae: Half-Genie Hero. In an update post on the game’s Kickstarter page, WayForward stated that it’s designing “2 intro segments (one for Shantae and one for Risky Boots), 5 main Chapters or ‘Worlds,’ and an epic conclusion.”
WayForward went on to say that some of the worlds “will be themed to the stretch goals you all made happen — racing on magic carpets in one case, tracking down the secret origins of Shantae’s new Guardian Genie Rival in the other.” Worlds will be unlocked in order and will follow a linear storyline, with worlds being revisited to complete NPC quests. Each chapter will have its own music, effects, environments, and bosses “which all get broken down into tasks, with time and money accounted for.”

Really looking forward to this, all of the Shantae games have been great.
Question: for someone who hasn’t played any of the Shantae games before, what is the best point to jump in? Should I start with the original GBC game (via Virtual Console), wait for Pirate’s Curse, or split the difference and play Risky’s Revenge?
ejamer,
I recommend downloading the original GBC Shantae off of Virtual Console. It holds up well and you’ll be able to experience why this game was so sought after for many years. If this game hadn’t been released on the virtual console by now, I bet it would have found its way into Robert’s recent “top-ten list” of GBC games we’d like to see on VC.
