Wii Remote Masthead

In some sad news, 17-year-old Christopher Roupe from Euharlee, GA was shot dead in his home by a police officer last week. Apparently, a police officer came to Roupe’s home, and when he answered the door, she immediately fatally shot the teen. Why? The officer claimed Roupe was wielding a gun. However, Roupe’s parents and his neighbors who saw the scene claimed that Roupe was just holding a Wii Remote in his hand.

“The eyewitnesses on the scene clearly state that he had a Wii controller in his hand. He heard a knock at the door. He asked who it was, there was no response so he opened the door and upon opening the door he was immediately shot in the chest,” said the attorney that Roupe’s family has hired.

The severely overreacting officer has been put on leave and the Georgie Bureau of Investigation is currently looking into this case before it goes to court.

My job doesn’t give me a paid vacation for killing someone without due reason (being surprised doesn’t cut it).

More seriously (and less sarcastically) this seems (not all of the facts are in) to be an awful event, and I feel for the victim of this crime and his family.
