Fans of the Mega Drive/Genesis RPG Pier Solar were happy when developer WaterMelon announced that an HD remake was coming to the Wii U eShop. Though launch was originally intended for March 2014, WaterMelon’s president Tulio Goncalves has stated the game’s release will be pushed back to April.
In an interview with Nintendo Enthusiast, Goncalves touched on some of the gameplay mechanics utilizing the Wii U’s GamePad, stating that WaterMelon is “definitely putting the second screen to good use, a feature that will be exclusive to that platform”; however, he also hinted at a potential 3DS port when he went on to say, “well, maybe not for long if we end up making it to the 3DS, but that’s for later.” Functions for the GamePad “that will add to the gameplay” are planned, according to Goncalves.
WaterMelon also hopes to release Magical Game Factory: Project Y (originally on the Sega Genesis) and Project N (on SNES) for today’s consoles, and has two projects currently in the works based on these games.
