After the positive reception to Neverland’s Rune Factory 4 on Nintendo 3DS, many fans were excited when a tentative announcement regarding a sequel was made. Unfortunately, those plans seem to have been shelved as Neverland announced this week that it will be closing its doors. The Japanese developer announced closure and bankruptcy plans on their website, citing deteriorating finances.
The news is certainly disappointing, as several other Japanese developers have faced similar struggles in recent years. Even more disappointing is the fact that Rune Factory 4 is still awaiting European release. Whether or not the title will still meet its release date remains to be seen.
As usual, stay tuned to Nintendojo where we’ll keep you posted about any future developments. In the meantime, let us know what you think in the comments below.

Noooooooooooooooooooo! Well, they had a good run. Four great Rune Factory games? Sounds like success to me. Still sad, though :/
