According to the recent Miiverse post by Masahiro Sakurai, the 3DS version of Super Smash Bros. will feature a customizable look. The controversial, yet practical, character outlines can be disabled in the final product.

Here’s a side-by-side comparison of characters with and without their outlines:

Characters are much harder to see without outlines, but, according to Sakurai, they give off a completely different effect when you look at them in 3D this way, so you can customize the look of the game however you like.

It’s hard to tell which version I would prefer until I see Super Smash Bros. in action on the 3DS screen, but it’s still great to have the option to customize how the game looks.
