Nintendo has announced via Twitter that Rusty’s Real Deal Baseball will be arriving in the 3DS eShop next week on April 3.
Rusty’s Real Deal Baseball marks the company’s second experiment with free-to-play gaming, following the release of Steel Diver: Sub Wars last month. Like that title, players will be able to download the core game for free, but further content, such as additional minigames, will be locked behind pay walls (in this case, each additional minigame will retail for $4). Unlike a typical free-to-play game, however, players will be able to negotiate the price of the minigames by offering Rusty certain items like doughnuts, allowing them to net a discount.
Each minigame in Rusty’s Real Deal Baseball focuses on honing a specific baseball technique, from hitting and pitching to even acting as an umpire. The game also allows players to exchange their high scores with one another via StreetPass.
Will you be giving Rusty’s Real Deal Baseball a download when it releases next week? Let us know in the comments!

Am I the only one looking forward to this? I think the concept sounds pretty cool (the haggling, I mean) and the games are supposed to be fun!
I will certainly give it a whirl. I’m not sure it will be quite my cup of tea, but I didn’t know I’d love ZombiU or Fire Emblem before I played their demos. Getting a chunk of the game to try out for free is something I can always get behind. :^)
