Nintendo of America has announced the first Game Boy Advance titles to hit the Wii U Virtual Console service. Priced at $6.99 and $7.99, the first batches of handheld games will be from among the system’s strongest.
Starting on April 3, fans can download Advance Wars, Metroid Fusion, and Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. On April 10, they’ll be able to purchase Kirby & The Amazing Mirror and WarioWare, Inc. April 17 will see F-Zero: Maximum Velocity and Golden Sun join the service. (April 17 also marks the day that Super Mario Bros. 3 will be released on the 3DS and Wii U eShops.) And the initial batch of GBA games will wrap up on April 24 with Super Mario Advance 3: Yoshi’s Island.
While GBA games were made available for early adopters of the 3DS as compensation for an early price drop, they’ve not been available commercially in the 3DS’ four year lifespan. Wii U owners should welcome the news as it opens up the potential for many more quality titles against a backdrop of a slow release schedule and flagging sales figures.
GBA games on the systems will as of now be single-player only, making the likelihood of the Game Boy Advance Pokémon games making their way to the service quite slim.

I do solemnly swear that I will not complain about the eShop during April. Looks like it’s time to bust out the eShop money that I got from that Best Buy Promotion.
