With the massive success of The LEGO Movie and it’s accompanying video game tie-in, it should come as little surprise that more LEGO games are on their way to Nintendo systems. Today, Warner Bros. Interactive, TT Games, and developer Hellbent announced LEGO Ninjago: Nindroids for the Nintendo 3DS.

A sequel to Hellbent’s 2011 DS game LEGO Battles: Ninjago, LEGO Ninjago: Nindroids will also serve as a tie-in to the brand new LEGO: Ninjago Rebooted animated series. The game will pit characters from the show such as Cole and Jay against Overlord and his Nindroid army as they attempt to conquer New Ninjago City. Other characters from the series, such as Samurai X, PIXAL, Nya, and Sensei Garmadon will also appear throughout the title, though whether or not as playable characters remain to be seen.

Warner Bros. Interactive promises that the title will feature 30 levels of action and vehicle-based gameplay as players explore locales such as Borg Tower and the Digiverse. Characters will have special Spinjitsu moves and weapons, and the game will also involve computer hacking to solve puzzles.

“Young gamers will have loads of fun playing as their favourite Ninja, and we’re introducing new characters and new villains – it’s the ultimate Ninja action game for kids,” said TT games managing director Tom Stone.

LEGO Ninjago: Nindroids releases on 3DS and PlayStation Vita this summer. Stay tuned to Nintendojo where we’ll have more on the title as we learn more information.
