When Spider-Man swings his way back on to the Nintendo 3DS next month, he’ll be doing so courtesy of a studio that should be familiar to Nintendo fans. High Voltage Software, best known for The Conduit games on Wii, has been revealed as the title’s developer. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is a tie-in to the film of the same name, but featuring additional characters and enemies.
High Voltage Software seems like a bit of an unusual choice to develop the title. Both The Conduit and its sequel were first-person shooters, a far cry from the type of gameplay typically featured in Activision’s Spider-Man games. Still, both games received decent reviews when they debuted on Nintendo’s previous console. We awarded The Conduit 2 a B- score when it released in 2011. Hopefully The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will show a similar amount of polish.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 releases on Nintendo 3DS and Wii U on April 29. As usual, stay tuned to Nintendojo where we’ll have more information on the games as the release date comes closer.
