Since Pokémon X and Y debuted on the Nintendo 3DS last fall, 85 million Pokémon have been traded worldwide via the game’s Global Trade System (or GTS for short). With 100 million trades quickly approaching, Nintendo has announced a special new Pokémon distribution to commemorate the event. A Fancy Pattern version of the Bug-Type Pokémon Vivillon will be offered. We’ve provided an image below.
Vivillon is currently the most traded pocket monster on the GTS, which seems to be the reason it was picked. The Fancy Pattern marks the 20th pattern revealed for Vivillon thus far, with the other 19 patterns only available based on the player’s real-world geographic location. That means that gamers interested in all of the creature’s various forms have had to trade with players all over the world to collect every type. Nintendo has not revealed further details about how players will be able to get the Fancy Pattern Vivillon, though with 15 million trades left before the total hits 100 million, it would seem likely that we’ll know more in the very near future. The distribution also seems to be a worldwide event, so gamers won’t have to worry about missing out.
As always, stay tuned to Nintendojo where we’ll provide more information as it becomes available!
