Nice! Between this and PDP’s plug-into-a-Wiimote option, the ‘cube controller is back! I thought it was very silly to gimp backwards compatibility on the Wii U to begin with, perhaps Nintendo is rethinking that a bit?
Smash is probably reason enough to grab one of these (or PDP’s pad, we’ll have to see), but I really hope this means we might see some more GameCube re-releases too. (Nintendo, don’t let that Eternal Darkness trademark renewal go to waste! :^)
I really liked the unofficial version, but this is way better! Hopefully this means we’ll see GameCube titles on the Virtual Console soon, too!
Thank goodness! While I’ve learned to play WiiRemote/Nunchuck on Brawl, I’ve still held onto my older GameCube controllers. I wonder if I’ll be able to use the WaveBird? I don’t see any reason why not, but you never know.
I still have four GameCube controllers, but I would definitely shell out money for a that Smash Bros one above. My Wavebird has been with me through most of my Smashing career, but it is getting battle-scarred. My C-Stick is very loose at this point.
With this, my brain is excited by all the opportunities this creates for the Wii U. I hope they make a bundle for this somehow. Maybe include a controller and adapter together?
