During today’s Nintendo Direct conference, the Virtual Console got its own set of announcements for fans to get excited about.
This April, Nintendo will begin bringing over the Wii’s NES and SNES Virtual Console offerings to the Wii U. NES titles are still expected to cost $4.99-5.99, while SNES titles will also retain their price of $7.99-8.99. The games will also feature save states (similar to the 3DS Virtual Console), playback on the Wii U GamePad and Miiverse compatibility. Already purchased these games on the Wii and you transferred them over? The games can be upgraded for $1 (for NES titles) or $1.50 (for SNES games) so you won’t miss out on any of these features!
But fans won’t have to wait until April. That’s because the Wii U Virtual Console Trial Campaign begins today. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Famicom, Nintendo will offer one classic Nintendo game per month from now until July for a mere 30 cents! The initial offerings are:
- January: Balloon Fight
- February: F-Zero
- March: Punch-Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream
- April: Kirby’s Adventure
- May: Super Metroid
- June: Yoshi
- July: Donkey Kong
