When Nintendo launched the teaser website for Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon earlier this week, some of the fine print hinted at a multiplayer mode, but we had no confirmation. Today, Nintendo officially acknowledged that the new ghost-bustin’ 3DS game will include multiplayer gameplay.
The first multiplayer mode revealed, called Hunter Mode, will allow players to team up locally or via Nintendo Network to scour mansions for ghosts. There will be more modes that have yet to be revealed, and some will allow for single card download play between multiple 3DS systems. Terrifying! Watch the video above and read an excerpt from Nintendo’s press release below for more information.
From the Nintendo Press Release: “In Hunter Mode, each player controls a different color Luigi and is challenged to hunt down ghosts and use effective teamwork to clear each floor of the tower before the clock strikes zero. Bonuses and upgrades can be earned depending on how well the team performs. There are also boss battles at the top of each tower. Players can choose the number of floors in this mode ranging from five, 10 or 25. They can adjust the difficulty to cater to both new and veteran gamers. Fallen players can even be revived by their teammates to keep the adventure going. ”
