Nintendo Direct is the gift that keeps on giving. While fans were treated to a large number of game announcements (new and old) this morning, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata also went into detail about the Wii U’s Miiverse, and how Nintendo is already making strides to improve it.
First up was Nintendo’s confirmation that gamers will be able to post updates to Miiverse from their web browser and, eventually, from an upcoming smartphone app. No specific dates were given for either of these features, however.
Nintendo also announced that game-specific features for Miiverse are also on the way. One example Nintendo cited is that Pikmin 3 players will be able to take pictures of wildlife and post them on the service. Here’s hoping we see a similar option if Pokémon Snap finds its way to the Virtual Console.
Wii Fit U will also have its own Miiverse features when it releases later this year. Iwata said that the Miiverse will have communities for gamers to trade weight-loss and workout tips.
Speaking of the Miiverse communities, those will also be seeing a big upgrade in the coming months as gamers will be able to not only create their own communities, but also filter specific content.
