With Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon heading to North American stores in a little over two months, Nintendo has decided to get the hype train rolling by launching a teaser site for the game.
While the page is currently bereft of any new details or footage of the title, fans who visited the website over this past weekend may have noticed a previously unknown multiplayer mode listed among the game’s features. The reference has since been removed, but Nintendo Life made sure to document it before Nintendo’s secret team of ninjas was able to take it down.
It’s unknown if this alleged multiplayer mode was simply a mistake or an accidental leak on Nintendo’s part, but it would help explain the game’s significant delay (it was initially rumored to launch this past holiday season, but was pushed back into the early part of 2013 for unknown reasons). Incidentally, this isn’t the first time a multiplayer mode was attributed to the title; back in 2011, Nintendo of Europe’s official website listed the game as supporting up to two players, before redacting the claim in an official statement to Nintendo Life. Whether this is a similar case has yet to be seen, but it certainly makes the game all the more intriguing.
Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon goes on sale in North America on March 24.
