4) Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Super Smash Bros. Brawl was the first in the series to venture online and there was a huge amount of content packed onto the disc. The series is known for its great multiplayer gameplay, but the chance to play against people when you didn’t have friends over was a great addition.
While online play could have used a few extra features , and struggled with lag issues, you would struggle to find a game that could match the sheer joy of a bout in Smash Bros.
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS looks set to improve on all aspects of the series and boats an expanded array of online options, so when Nintendo WFC does shut down, it will only be a few months’ wait before we can rejoin the fight online!
Sorry, but you can’t make a “Best of WFC” without Monster Hunter.
We’ve excluded Monster Hunter from the list (and from our poll) since it technically used Capcom’s servers for online play and not Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, but there’s no doubt that it was easily one of the most ambitious and addictive online games on any Nintendo console. ;)
Yeah, there was a number of great third party games that would have made the list if it had been open to all games with online play.
I agree with you though. I plan on getting Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate as part of the Mario Kart promotion in a couple of weeks!
