When the Villager from Animal Crossing was first announced as one of the newest fighters in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS, many had speculated that a female villager would also be included in the games as one of his alternate costumes (as was the case with the male Wii Fit Trainer). Earlier today, game director Masahiro Sakurai turned speculation into fact when he posted the following to Miiverse as part of his daily Smash Bros. updates:
“Pic of the day. You can choose to play as the girl villager too!! How lovely.”
Super Smash Bros. will be debuting for 3DS this summer, while the Wii U version will be available in winter.
