Reports are swirling that the Year of Luigi isn’t quite done spoiling us with Green ‘Stache goodness. Retailer Newegg has allegedly confirmed that Nintendo will be bringing 3DS hit Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon to Wii U!
While Nintendo has yet to make a formal announcement, Dark Moon wouldn’t be the first 3DS to Wii U transition, as Resident Evil: Revelations holds that honor. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate also pulled double-duty on both 3DS and Wii U at its launch, so Dark Moon on Wii U isn’t outside the realm of possibility. Our fingers are officially crossed, and we’ll update with more information as it arrives.

I skipped Dark Moon when it came out on 3DS. I loved the original game, but I had too many other titles to play, and figured I’d just check it out somewhere down the line. If it really is getting ported to Wii U, this is the perfect excuse. I’m gonna go ahead and cross my fingers that the original Luigi’s Mansion is included on the disc as well! :)
Luigi’s Mansion is a welcome site anywhere, but I didn’t see this coming. If this trend of titles spreading out from their original platform is going to be a recurring thing, I’d like to nominate:
– Xenoblade Chronicles 3D
– Pikmin 3D
– Metroid Prime 3D
– Animal Crossing New Leaf U
– Kid Icarus Uprising U
– WarioWare DIY U
I won’t be re-buying Dark Moon, just as I didn’t re-buy Revelations, but any of these would get me for a double-dip.
