At this point, it would almost be redundant to discuss the sales success of Pokémon X and Y. Both titles have experienced a ton of strong press in that regard, and have bolstered 3DS sales to record highs. Well, the good news keeps coming as Australia and New Zealand have experienced their strongest launch ever for a Nintendo published title, selling 100,000 copies on opening weekend.
For the sake of comparison, Pokémon Black and White sold a combined 80,000 copies in their first week. While the news is certainly good for Nintendo, it is a bit of a double-edged sword as the success of the titles has led to some shortages in the regions. Nintendo Australia has assured fans that the problem will be resolved in the next week, however. This means that parents looking to pick-up the titles in time for Christmas will likely have little difficulty.
Have you had any trouble finding a copy of Pokémon X or Y? Or are you just trying to trade for a Kangaskhan that was caught in Australia? Either way, let us know in the comments below!
