New old games, old new games, discounts on some critically acclaimed eShop titles, and so much more are in the spotlight this week. From Boxboy! to Super Mario 64, there are some things that everyone needs to get– let’s take a look:
Releases
Wii U eShop
- Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures – $9.99 – The game inspired by classic platformers and made with sole intention to mimic the YouTube show has finally arrived on the eShop. Took some time, but so will completing this difficult title.
- Psyscrolr – $3.99
- Underground – $20.99
- Mon Premier Karaoké – $9.99
- Bubble Gum Popper – $1.99
Wii U Virtual Console
- Super Mario 64 – $9.99 – One of the classic 3D Mario games and the birth of what would redefine how Mario games would play on consoles is finally here on the Virtual Console at a nice price of $9.99. You can play this game on the N64, on DS, and now you can grab a Bob-omb on your Wii U.
- Yoshi’s Island DS – $9.99
3DS eShop/Retail
- Story of Seasons – $39.99 – The reason behind why this game is without the Harvest Moon tagline is long and complicated, but this game is, for all intents and purposes, a Harvest Moon game at heart. It came out awhile ago in Japan and if reviews are anything to go off of, it may be the best in the series.
- Boxboy! – $4.99 – Nintendo has shown very little of this game and rightfully so. The game has very little to show off, but it presents itself as a fun puzzler utilizing blocks to get from point A to point B and making sure you’re able to do so without getting hit. Sounds simple enough, but looks can be deceiving.
- Excave II: Wizard of the Underworld – $10.00

FYI Super Mario 64 looks pretty good on my HD screen for a game that originally featured 320×240 resolution. The native control is a little rough with the camera being controlled with the right analog stick, and only the A and B buttons being usable on the face; however the left stick is far superior to the N64’s analog stick (swinging Bowser about is extremely easy).
