The Amiibo craze is nothing short of amazing. High-quality figurines being sold for a little over 10 dollars, people going crazy for them, and a league of people finding ’em all absolutely adorable is exactly the kind of charm to be expected from Nintendo. While hunting down certain Amiibo (Marth, Wii Fit Trainer, any Fire Emblem character, etc.) can be insanely hard when you want them at retail prices, it seems finding particular ones may be harder than it once was.
Like Lucario, Meta Knight, and Rosalina & Luma before them, Jigglypuff, Ness, and Greninja will also be exclusive to certain gaming retailers. Jigglypuff has been confirmed to be an exclusive to retail giant Target, and Ness has also been confirmed to be a GameStop exclusive, with pre-orders starting (and, unsurprisingly, selling out) today. With a price of $12.99 and an ever-growing population of people who identify themselves as EarthBound-lovers, the rarity of Ness may be something that has so far gone unseen.
Greninja will also be an exclusive to Toys “R” Us. That the chain has other exclusive Amiibo (Lucario) adds to the belief that, going forward, Toys “R” Us and Nintendo will have a lasting relationship. Many popular retails have jumped on the exclusive Amiibo train, and it’s to be expected that future Amiibo may also follow suit. Pre-orders for Greninja start tomorrow, April 3, 2015, with a retail price of $13.99.
