While DICE has been downplaying its intentions for Frostbite 3 on Wii U, it will be some comfort to know that Nintendo’s oldest rival, SEGA, will be standing firmly behind them with the intention of releasing up to seven games on the system this year.
The news comes after the release of sales figures showing a respectable combined sales figure of 500,000 across the Wii U and 3DS for Sonic’s most recent racing outing, Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed.
The planned seven pieces of software will be the same number as are due for PS3 and slightly more than the four planned for Xbox 360; however, it is not yet clear whether the ‘SKUs’ mentioned are full games or whether than figure includes special editions and the like, so keep an eye on the release schedule. There are also six products in development for 3DS.

Thank you, SEGA.
I look back on Sega’s 16-bit rivalry with Nintendo and can’t help but smile. Two real gaming giants, competing to give players great games. Now we’ve got entertainment/software/service giants, neither of whom knows the first thing about gaming, throwing money around, buying up studios, using business tactics that make the likes of 90s Sega and Nintendo just look quaint.
Keep ’em coming, Sega, you’ll always be welcome here.
Considering what a welcome surprise Sonic and All Stars Racing Transformed was on Wii U, I’m very pleased to hear this.
