With some speculators fearing the worst when it comes to Nintendo’s latest console, some believe Nintendo may be looking at different avenues to give Wii U owners more games to play. According to sources, Nintendo is offering professional-use software to app developers for the purpose of converting smartphone apps to the Wii U. Theoretically, this could allow developers to port these games over much more quickly and easily.
While this is simply speculation at this time, it doesn’t seem that far fetched in light of recent news developments. In March, Nintendo announced the Nintendo Web Framework tool, which seemed to make it easier for web and application creators to port their games over to the Nintendo eShop.
While these aren’t the kinds of games that will satisfy hardcore gamers, it’s important to remember that giving Wii U owners more options certainly isn’t a bad thing. I, for one, wouldn’t mind seeing Miiverse integration into games like Doodlejump or Words With Friends.

While I’m sure this will appeal to some people, I certainly didn’t fork out $350 to play mobile ports on it. I never understood why people would pay 30 or so bucks to play Angry Birds on their 360’s, but people’s tastes differ, I get it. I’ll continue to play mobile apps on my phone for a buck a piece.
