According to information from the Pokémon series’ website, the May 19 episode of Pokémon Smash will reveal as-yet-unknown information about the upcoming titles Pokémon X and Pokémon Y.
While we don’t know if it will be a worldwide revelation, much like the one that ushered in the latest form of Mewtwo, it’s still likely to get fans excited. While some information, such as the starter Pokémon and the graphical style, have been revealed, we haven’t been given much to go on regarding story or online capability, to say the least.
Curiously, the gap between these games and Pokémon Black and White has been much shorter than is traditional between Pokémon generations. For example, the gap from Ruby and Sapphire to Diamond and Pearl was five years, and that between Diamond/Pearl and Black/White was four. Still, we’d expect a lot of the usual polish and effort to go into these newest titles, while retaining the hope that they distance themselves sufficiently from the previous instalments to really capture our imagination.
