4) The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
Released: Wii (2011)
Wii had plenty of titles that utilized its motion control capabilities, but few did so in the same way as Skyward Sword. Tracking player swings and thrusts with shocking precision, Skyward Sword presented an array of new types of puzzles and combat situations built around the Wii Remote’s Motion Plus technology. Skyward Sword was also home to one of the best stories to have ever been seen in a Zelda game, telling a tale of young love, duty, and discovery. The game also pushed Wii from a graphical standpoint, so much so that it was hard to believe the system was even capable of it. Mixing visual elements from The Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword was a feast for the eyes– and the ears, as its fully-orchestrated soundtrack was especially stirring. The quest began to feel stretched in the latter part of the game, but overall Skyward Sword was unforgettable.
Nice list, and it had to be pretty tough to rank so many beloved gems! I’d put Link’s Awakening higher and Minish Cap lower (maybe even kick it off the list and include the Oracle duo) but everything here is solid.
Spirit Tracks remains the one Zelda title I haven’t finished. Every time I pick it up, I’m quickly turned off by the central Tower of Tedium. If the otherwise fun and memorable Phantom Hourglass hadn’t had a similar Basement of Boredom, I’d have tried to squeeze it into a top ten.
Cool list.
I hope yall dont mind me saying mine hehe…
