Marth has been one of the rarest Amiibo to find from the initial wave of releases. Along with Wii Fit Trainer and Villager, it was safe to assume that once Marth had sold out, the chances of acquiring him for retail price had dwindled into nothingness. However, during yesterday’s Nintendo Direct, Bill Trinen finally made official what has been circulating for some time: more Marth Amiibo are on their way.
While this is great news, it wasn’t simply because Marth is a fan-favorite, but more because Code Name: S.T.E.A.M., made by the same developer as Fire Emblem, has Amiibo support for every character from the Fire Emblem franchise (who has an Amiibo available). Allowing people who bought the game to purchase one of the most recognized faces of the series once again will not only help gauge interest in Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. but it will also help push people toward purchasing more Amiibo.
The functionality of Marth (and every other Fire Emblem Amiibo) in Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. comes in the form of additional allies. The game usually allows playing with a set few characters, but if an Amiibo is scanned before embarking on a mission, they can be chosen as one of the characters to assist in battle. With more Marth figuress on the way, those of us who love Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. can finally unlock a character that we’ve wanted to kill aliens with since day one.
