It’s hard to believe 2013 is almost over, but what a ride the past year has been. From the grand tactical roleplaying of Fire Emblem Awakening to November’s double-whammy of Super Mario 3D World and The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, Nintendo fans of all stripes were treated to a plethora of great 3DS, Wii U, and eShop games over the past 12 months, making 2013 one of the finest years, software-wise, in the Big N’s history.
We’ll be highlighting our own favorite titles in our Best of 2013 awards, which will kick off on January 6, but in the meantime, we’d like to know which of the year’s games you enjoyed most. Cast your vote in our poll, and if we happened to miss your favorite title (which is certainly possible given the vast breadth of releases these past 12 months have seen), then be sure to mention it below in the comments!

I had been excited about a new Pikmin for years after playing the second game, and the third entry was no disappointment for me. Still, I would have much rather had Pikmin 3 as a true launch game and been my favorite game of LAST year.
I have to say Link Between Worlds blew me away. I did not expect a top-down perspective to work on a 3D platform, nor for a game that, as Miyamoto himself put it, “looked twenty years old” to hold such a grasp on me.
My vote might not be worth a lot, because I haven’t played quite a few of the “big” games from 2013 yet… I suspect that Rayman Legends and Mario 3D World on Wii U would both be at the top of my list otherwise.
But from the 2013 games that I have played, the one I enjoyed most was SteamWorld Dig. Is it strange that a small, kind of retro eShop title was my favorite?
(Special mention for Super Mario Galaxy 2. It wasn’t released in 2013, but this is the first time I’ve really played it and the game is absolutely fantastic.)
