Before you shake your head in derision, just remember that someone, somewhere, had to be the first to mix peanut butter and jelly; where would the world be were it not for that fateful bit of ingenuity? Keep that in mind as you ponder the possibilities of today’s announcement of the Yoshi’s Island Zone DLC stage for Wii U’s Sonic Lost World. Yes, humanity is finally ready to handle the sight of Sonic traversing through pipes and spin-dashing packs of Shy Guys. The stage is available now for free, with more Nintendo-themed stages set to make their way to the solid platformer. It’s pretty exciting to see Nintendo and Sega do a crossover for a proper series installment and not a spinoff game, so hopefully it’s a sign of more to come in the future.
What do you think about Nintendo lending its properties to another game series? Would you like to see a more ambitious crossover in the future? Let us know!
This looks absolutely full of win to me. I love the old Yoshi’s Island games and thoroughly enjoy Sonic Lost World. It’s a combination I would never have thought of, but it looks cute as hell and plenty of fun, so I’m in!
Beyond that, anything that makes Nintendo and Sega cozier can only be a good thing in my book.
