Fire Emblem won’t be the only Nintendo franchise receiving a high-profile crossover on Wii U; at the start of today’s Nintendo Direct broadcast, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata announced Hyrule Warriors (tentative title), a new collaborative effort between the Big N and Tecmo Koei.
As its name implies, Hyrule Warriors is not a new installment in the mainline Zelda series, but a crossover with Tecmo Koei’s Warriors franchise. The game will see Link slashing his way through wave after wave of familiar Zelda enemies, using a number of classic items, including the Master Sword, Fire Rod, and Bombs, to take on the Bokoblin hordes that are assailing the kingdom.
Nintendo has released the first trailer for Hyrule Warriors on its YouTube channel, which can be seen below:
While Iwata did not specify a release date for Hyrule Warriors, he did confirm that the game will be launching on Wii U sometime in 2014.

This looks like it could be really fun. Dynasty Warriors has always been fun as a silly action game.
Any word if there will be co-op?
