Disney Infinity, the branded video game and toy series from veteran creators Disney, is now set to be released in August after an initial stated release date of June. The move is apparently in order to add further content to the game before release, but also to push the launch closer to the lucrative holiday season, which usually sees the highest levels of sales for games.
Disney Interactive has had lukewarm financial results recently and the launch delay may help to alleviate that if they can ride a wave of post-release goodwill through the holidays, but the move may concern investors worried about the company’s bottom line.
