The Pre-E3 Nintendo news just won’t stop! Nintendo has shared a new video today detailing some more specifics about Nintendo World Championships 2015, which is this Sunday June 14 in Los Angeles.
Nintendo’s Bill Trinen and Erik Peterson discuss the secrets of the upcoming NWC in a not-so-secret way. While the games that players will compete in are largely remaining a mystery, we do have confirmation that Splatoon will be one of them (along with the original Legend of Zelda as previously mentioned). In addition, the event will be hosted by Kevin Pereira, the former host of G4TV’s Attack of the Show.
Special invited players have also been confirmed, with prominent people from the Nintendo speedrunning community and some online personalities. The event will be commentated on by online gaming personalities as well. Finally, the eight players from the nationwide qualifying events are soon to be revealed.
Tune in June 14 at 3pm PDT to watch the competition!
*Nintendo United States Championship
It’s kinda weird how many people are still making that mistake.
If it makes you feel any better, I live in the US and there was no way for me to get involved in this either. “Nintendo Handful-of-Cities Championship”, perhaps?
It’s beyond me why they didn’t do this as some kind of actually-worldwide, limited-time online freebie mashing up NES Remix and Splatoon and whatever else. Oh well. Maybe this will become a regular thing and evolve into something accessible someday.
