In a new video presentation, game designer Tomonobu Itagaki showed off new footage from the Wii U exclusive Devil’s Third and confirmed that the game will release August 4, 2015 in Japan. Nintendo of Europe has confirmed a European release date of August 28, 2015. The video shows the game in action, and features multiplayer gameplay. The video is entirely in Japanese, but the gameplay speaks for itself, and Itagaki himself is always just interesting to watch.
Tomonobu Itagaki is head of Valhalla Game Studios, who is working with Nintendo to develop Devil’s Third. Ever the character, Itagaki was formerly of Tecmo– where he created the Dead or Alive series and handled the rebooted Ninja Gaiden series. Devil’s Third has been in development for quite some time, as it was originally planned as a multiplatform title in the previous console generation. The IP switched hands several times before Nintendo finally confirmed it would be publishing the game for Wii U.
The game takes place in a world where a rogue force instigates a global revolution by disabling all of Earth’s orbiting satellites. This forces military around the world to resort to using old-school tactics to combat the terrorist forces. You control Ivan, a mysterious tattooed man who seems to love shooting and shanking anyone who stands in his way.
No North American release has yet to be confirmed, but expect to hear one soon.
