EarthBound Beginnings Coming to NA and EU Virtual Console

The original Mother is finally coming outside of Japan TODAY!

After 26 long years, the original Mother is finally releasing outside of Japan. Series creator Shigesato Itoi unexpectedly appeared just before the Nintendo World Championships began this afternoon to announce that the game will be coming to the West under the name EarthBound Beginnings. It will release on the Wii U Virtual Console TODAY! (June 14)

EarthBound Beginnings is an entirely translated version of the original game, which released for the Famicom in 1989. This announcement bodes incredibly well for Mother 3 coming outside of Japan as well, so we can only hope we hear more EarthBound/Mother news as the week of E3 carries on!
