Yesterday, a supposed leak revealed that Ryu from the Street Fighter series and Roy from Fire Emblem would be available as downloadable content for Super Smash Bros. on Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. While it sure looked authentic enough, there have been enough fake Super Smash Bros. reveals through the years that it would have been easy to dismiss. This morning’s Nintendo Direct not only officially confirmed these characters, director Masahiro Sakurai also revealed that they would be released today alongside Lucas! That’s right! They’re available right now!
Ryu is accompanied by a new stage, Suzaku Castle, which comes with a download of the character. The character’s control options have been created to closely mirror the way he fights in Street Fighter II. As a result, fans that are used to controlling the character in other games could have a distinct advantage when using him in Smash! Ryu and Suzaku Castle will cost $5.99 for each version of the game, or $6.99 if purchased on both. An Amiibo figure of Ryu will be released in the near future, as well. We’ve mirrored the character’s reveal trailer below!
Suzaku Castle isn’t the only stage coming out today! Kirby’s Dreamland from the original Super Smash Bros. is also available for download. The old-school stage will cost $1.99 for one version, or $2.99 for both. Sakurai also revealed that Hyrule Castle and Peach’s Castle from the N64 classic are both on the way, though a release date was not given. The previously announced Miiverse stage will be available today, however, and, even better, it’s free!
Alongside the new characters and stages, Nintendo also confirmed a ton of new DLC skins for Mii Fighters, including Isabelle from Animal Crossing: Wild World, Heihachi from Tekken, Mega Man.EXE and Zero from the Mega Man franchise, and more! These skins are also available now, in addition to the previously announced Splatoon Inkling DLC. The new DLC costumes will cost $.75 each, $6 for all of them, or $9.20 for all of them on both 3DS and Wii U.
Be warned: while all of this content is available right now, odds are good that the servers are going to be very taxed. Have patience, and get smashing!

I can assure, as of 11am, PST, servers are slammed! Trying to get DAT RYU!!!
Keep plugging! I just got Ryu and the Dreamland 64 stage. I really wish they would have given us Saffron City, though. :(
How about a real Inkling for SSB instead of just a Mii costume, huh?
