If you found yourself compelled to pre-order Super Smash Bros. for Wii U (or are still planning too before next Friday!), you weren’t alone, as Nintendo revealed the next installment in its beloved fighting series is topping the numbers for Mario Kart 8. Fans are coming out in droves to secure their copies of Smash, bolstering Nintendo’s hopes that the game will also help to push a significant number of Wii U consoles into consumer hands.
Mario Kart 8 already has helped to almost double Wii U sales, so if Smash‘s pre-orders are already higher than that blockbuster game’s was, Nintendo just might get its wish. Anyone on the fence about Smash for Wii U should read our review of the 3DS iteration of that same game for a little perspective on what to expect from the home console version. Also, don’t forget that Smash is pre-loadable through the eShop for snappy access when the game becomes available at midnight on November 21!
