In an interview with Polygon, Shovel Knight developer Yacht Club Games has revealed exactly how its retro-style platformer’s Miiverse and StreetPass features will work.
Miiverse will be used for sending and receiving hints in the game by dropping notes in specific locations throughout its world. For example, if a player comes across a challenging room, you could drop a hint within that area to warn future players of danger ahead and give them tips on how to pass it. This feature will be exclusive to the Wii U version of the game.
The StreePass function, which is exclusive to the 3DS version, is both absolutely insane and brilliant. Basically, each player will record a five second gameplay clip that will be used against another person’s five second gameplay clip within a blind face-off. You can make it so your knight collects gems or whacks your opponent, but because you don’t know what your opponent is doing, you won’t be able to react to their input directly! After each battle is over, you can view the battle and plan out different tactics for when you blindly enter the fray once more.
What do you think of these features? Are you excited to try either of these out? Sound off in the comments below!
